The Story Behind Dala Horse
A small piece of wood is carved, smoothed and painted. Little by little, it takes the shape of a horse. Red paint gives it its familiar color, while delicate patterns bring each figure to life.
The Dala horse comes from the woodcarving traditions of Dalarna. Once made as toys for children, these little horses gradually became one of Sweden’s most familiar folk art symbols.
Some stand on a windowsill for years. Others are wrapped as gifts or carried home after a journey. What makes them special is not only their shape, but the care behind them and the memories that come to be attached to them.
Dala Horse takes inspiration from that same feeling. The bracelet’s reds, yellows, greens, whites and blues recall the lively colors of Swedish folk painting. Its story is about a quiet kind of courage, one that grows from love, care and a place to belong.
